Back Pain

Physiotherapy for back pain
Back pain is common and can range from nagging pain to sudden stabbing, often caused by inactivity, incorrect posture or just overuse. These symptoms have a major impact on daily life and can make movements such as bending, lifting and sitting or standing for long periods of time difficult. The origins of low back pain are not always clear and can vary widely.
What we do know is that a large group of people are more likely to develop back problems. These are people with obesity, chronic diseases, who smoke and do physically demanding work, among others.

I have back pain, what should I do?
If you have recently experienced pain in your back, it is important to realize that this pain often goes away on its own within a few weeks. What you can do about it yourself is to stay active, avoid bed rest and continue with usual activities including work. It is important to contact the physio- manual therapist if things get worse rather than better or if the pain has not subsided after 4 weeks.
If your low back pain does not go away on its own, we are happy to help you recover. Based on the intake, questionnaire(s) and physical examination, we can estimate which therapy is right for you. The physical examination consists of making a series of movements, taking some tests and feeling the muscles and joints of the low back.
